Syncing contacts and calendars to iPod with iTunes for Windows Vista
Summary
iTunes has the ability to sync1 your contacts and calendars from Microsoft Outlook, Windows Calendar, and Windows Contacts (formerly Microsoft Address Book) to any iPod with a display screen.
- The maximum supported number of contacts varies by iPod model.
Note: iTunes can sync vCards (.vcf) or Windows Contact (.contact) files, but only from one program at a time. If you sync from Outlook and then Windows Contact, your previous contacts will be overwritten. Outlook 2003 or later is required to sync contacts and calendars from Outlook.

To configure iTunes to sync contacts to your iPod:
- Open iTunes.
- Connect your iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes Source pane.
- In the Source pane under Devices select your iPod. This displays the iPod’s Preferences.
- Click the Contacts tab.

- Select the "Synchronize contacts from…" checkbox.
- From the menu, choose the program (Outlook or Windows Contacts) that contains the contacts you want to sync with your iPod.
- Click Apply.
Tip: iTunes for Windows can only sync Microsoft Outlook and Windows Contacts automatically. Note: Contact Groups from Windows Contacts will not sync with iPod.
Note: iTunes for Windows can only sync contacts from one source at a time, either Outlook or Contacts. If you change the sync source, your new contacts will overwrite the previously stored contacts.
To configure iTunes to sync calendars to your iPod
- Open iTunes.
- Connect your iPod and wait for it to appear in the iTunes Source pane.
- In the Source pane under Devices select your iPod. This displays the iPods Preferences.
- Click the Contacts tab and scroll down.
- Select the "Synchronize calendars from Microsoft Outlook" checkbox.
- Pick "All Calendars" or select the particular calendar(s) you want to sync.
- Click Apply.
Tip: iTunes for Windows can only sync Microsoft Outlook automatically. To sync calendars from Windows Calendar, export your calendar as an .ics file and import them into Outlook.
