iPhone 3GS: iTunes displays the wrong phone number during activation
Symptoms
After receiving an iPhone 3GS from an Apple Online Store order and connecting it to iTunes, an incorrect phone number is displayed during the activation process.
Products Affected
iPhone 3GS
Resolution
Verify that the SIM in the device is the SIM associated with the account used to purchase the iPhone. Then connect the iPhone and try activating it again.
Additional Information
The number displayed in iTunes matches the number that was originally used at the time of purchase. If you wish to use the iPhone on another number on your account, please first complete your activation in iTunes. Once the phone service has been transferred to the new iPhone, you can call your carrier to help swap service between two mobile numbers.
