iMovie ’09: iPhone 3GS or iPod nano (5th generation) video may import into iMovie with rotated display
Symptoms
If you record video from your iPhone 3GS or iPod nano (5th generation) in any orientation other than held horizontally with the home button or click wheel on the right side (as shown in the images below), your video will be rotated when accessed from iPhoto Videos in iMovie versions prior to 8.0.4.

Products Affected
iMovie ’08 (7.x), iPod nano (5th generation), iPhone 3GS, iMovie ’09
Resolution
For iMovie ’09 users, update to version 8.0.4 or later.
For iMovie ’08 users, in order to get your footage properly oriented in iMovie, make sure to hold the phone or iPod nano horizontally with the home button or click wheel on the right side (as shown in the images above).
For footage that has already been recorded on your iPhone 3GS or iPod nano (5th generation), use iMovie’s Rotate feature to correctly orient the video in the iMovie viewer.
